CENTERLESS GRINDING

Grinding is a mechanical or manual operation for processing material (wood, metal, glass, granite, diamond, etc.). It is a subspecies of abrasive processing, which is considered a subspecies of cutting. With the help of mechanical grinding, hard and brittle materials are regularly processed to specified sizes, the accuracy in this process is microns. Also, grinding is required to reduce any roughness present on the surface of the product, based on the GOST standards. Products are cooled with the help of cutting fluids (coolants).

When grinding, the following must be taken into account: fragile, hard glass is subject to more abrasion than a soft and elastic metal plate, a diamond can be processed with diamond powder, and pieces of quartz can be processed on a sandstone grinder. The dimensions of the pits that are obtained with the help of emery grains directly depend on the size of the grains themselves. Therefore, with the help of grinding, the product receives the most attractive surface (and, depending on the requirements, it can be matte or shiny).

Today, machine grinding is actively used, one of its varieties is centerless grinding. It is used for processing parts that do not have center holes.
