SURFACE GRINDING
Surface grinding is a certain type of grinding work performed using different methods. There are several types of surface grinding that require surface grinding machines. But what is grinding itself?
Grinding is a mechanical or manual process for modifying a material. Grinding lends itself to various materials, including metal, wood, glass, granite, diamond, etc. It should be noted that grinding is a subspecies of abrasive processing, and it belongs to a subspecies of cutting.

Mechanical grinding is used when it is required to give hard and brittle materials the specified dimensions with an accuracy of microns. It is also used to obtain the minimum surface roughness, which is allowed by GOST.
General introduction to grinding
The simplest method of grinding is to use hard-grained sand or hard emery. The selected material is placed on a hard surface, against which the workpiece is then rubbed. In the process of friction, the following happens: grains with corners roll between two planes and carry out many impacts that contribute to the destruction of the protruding particles of these surfaces. They, in turn, become more round and crumble into small parts, becoming grinding grains.
When using soft surfaces, abrasive particles seem to be “fixed” on this surface and, when rubbed, rows of parallel scratches appear on the second surface. When using the first sanding method, the surface will be matte due to the uniform pitting. While using the second method, the surface will receive a certain shine, since during the processing, the grinding process gradually turns into polishing, due to which many small scratches are formed on the surface that are not visible.
When it comes to sanding, the following should be taken into account:
- brittle, hard glasses are subject to fairly rapid abrasion in comparison with soft and elastic metals;
- diamond powder can be used to process a diamond;
- pieces of quartz are processed using a sandstone grinder.
This knowledge will help to produce the highest quality product that will meet all customer requirements.
When choosing suitable materials for grinding, it is worth considering the size of the pits that should result. If small pits are needed, then fine-grained emery is required; if large pits, large-grained emery is required. Knowing all the subtleties of grinding, you can guarantee a high-quality end result.
Machine grinding is a fairly demanded service. One of its types is surface grinding (processing of planes and mating flat surfaces).
For surface grinding, parts with dimensions are suitable: width up to 200 mm, length up to 400 mm, height up to 250 mm. The weight of the part can be 10-12 kg.
We offer surface grinding services for ferrous, non-ferrous metal, stainless, and titanium alloys.
